I re-polished this Linde Star Sapphire cabochon

A jeweler in Ohio sent us this Linde Star Sapphire cabochon which had a lot of scratches and pits from being worn for many years.

They asked us if we could re-polish it to make it look like new again.

It is good to be aware that, for a period of years, they did manufacture 'some' Linde stars which the star was only a surface coating. If one tries to re-polish those stars, the star will come off and the stone will be ruined.

Before re-polishing the Linde Star Sapphire

As you can see on the left, when a Linde Star Sapphire gets very scratched after years of wear, it is very hard to see any star in it anymore. The scratches make the surface similar to that of frosted glass.

We can use a special sanding and polishing wheel to put a new polish back onto your stone.

You can see how much better the stone looks now with a new polish. You can see the nice sharp star and the blue color also comes out richer.
