A jeweler sent us this Turquoise bracelet which had been dropped and broken. It had a bad crack and a piece had also fallen out leaving a crater in the stone.
They asked us if there was any way we could fill in the crack and and pit. We gave it a lot of thought and came up with something that worked, as you will see below.
This shows the broken Turquoise cabochon which the jeweler sent us.
You can see both a long crack which runs from left to right and also a missing piece.
A couple of years ago I discovered a new type of Superglue which cures much harder than conventional Superglue. The benefit of the new type is, it cures hard enough to be buffed and takes a polish.
I selected a piece of scrap Turquoise from my stock which matched the color of this broken stone. I crushed it into a powder. I added that to the Superglue and packed it into the crack and the crater.
At left, you can see the mound of filler which has now hardened.
After it had hardened, I sanded it down and then buffed it to a polish.
Here you can see the Turquoise cabochon which is now finished being repaired.
It isn't pefecet like it was before it broke, but the owner of the stone thought it was a vast improvement and was very very happy with the results.
