A company wanted the image of a wolf lasered onto black Onyx.
They provided me with the artwork you see below which the guy with the laser used to burn that image into the black Onyx.
It creates a very striking look.
This is the artwork which the customer sent me.
The guy with the laser tweaks this a bit with Photoshop so that the image will fit best onto the oval Onyx stone. His computer talks to the laser which then prints the laser image onto the Onyx, much like laser printing. Except that this laser is much more powerful than a standard laser printer. It is able to melt stone.
This is what the finished stone looks like.
Many customers prefer this method to the standard carved intaglios. The intaglio carvings are nice, but they are expensive and they don't show up very well. The white on black image shows up extremely well. You can practically see it from across the room.
